The difference
between a custom-made and an ordinary rod
While looking at this page you might ask the question: do I really need a custom-made fly rod? For the most the answer would be: probably not. For those, who regard fly fishing not only as one kind of fishing but a way of life, would the sooner or later prefer a individual made fly rod, which components are selected and which corresponds with your fishing claims to a fishing rod from "conveyor belt production".

Why is it like that? A possible explanation:

Everyone can go and buy a fly rod of a famous rod producer and surely will hold a nice fly rod in his hands.

But there is one thing which you can´t expect from such a rod. It can fulfil the individual demands of a fly fisher on the fly rod only in a limited manner, because it is made of standardized components to cover a wide range of consumer customs in a world in which the motto is: "one size fits all".

Compared with that, the individual rodbuilder has the possibility to use the best components and materials on the market. Over and above that and because of his specific knowledge and his experience he is able to fulfil the individual demands of the customer, e. g. an exact-fitting production of a cork grip. Finally it is the care with which the rodbuilder works, from the first step the fixing of the spine to the winching and varnishing of the rod rings. He isn´t under any piece of work pressure and can take all the time he needs to produce your individual fly rod.

For those who want to escape the hype of the constantly changing models of fly rods in smaller periods of time and the floods of cheap and low-quality rods from the Far East, I will offer a suiting alternative.
